Students Give Water a Voice Program

gwvcircleStudents Give Water a Voice is aimed at increasing students awareness of their community water resource problems and empowering them to find solutions.  Each year in celebration of World Water Day, NVOC sponsors an international art competition.  Through posters, stories, poems, and videos students and educators have an opportunity to combine art, science, and conservation to give a voice to community water resources.

Phase 1:  Expression of water issues through artwork:  We encourage educators to work with students in studying community water resource issues centered around a specified theme.  With an informed view of their water, students submit drawings/paintings, creative narratives/poems, or videos of their interpretation of water issues.  Check out the 2008, 2009, 2010 winning posters and videos.studentsplay

Phase 2:  Use of the Posters to Increase Public Awareness Finalist and winning posters are used in outreach and education events, public service messages, and social media to increase awareness of the global water crisis and the urgent need to preserve, conserve, and restore water resources.
